Skjal is a partner in the Writing Professional English project, a co-operative European initiative that is part of the EU Leonardo da Vinci Community Programme. The project's goal is to improve teaching methods and material in the technology sector that relate to academic writing and reporting in English.

The scheme seeks to improve the quality of scientific research publications in a wide range of subjects. It encourages clear and uniform presentation and aims to improve the writing skills of those involved in publishing scientific material of this kind.

The project has already achieved some significant results, including the publication of a style guide for use when writing scientific articles, reports and papers. University teachers and students can also access educational material developed as part of the project.

Five countries are currently involved: the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Iceland and Italy.
